The Statistics Bureau (BPS) of Metro Municipality is conducting the Monthly Livestock Slaughter Report (LPTB) data collection for 2024. This initiative is part of BPS's commitment to providing accurate data on the number of livestock slaughtered each month in licensed slaughterhouses (RPH) and other verified facilities. This data is essential for government decision-making in managing the livestock sector, maintaining meat supply, and monitoring animal health.
The data collection team consists of one Field Enumerator (PCL) and one Field Quality Supervisor (PML), both from the BPS staff. Data gathering takes place at the beginning of each month, specifically from the 1st to the 10th, using the Computer-Assisted Personal Interviewing (CAPI) method, which enhances efficiency and accuracy. The team visits slaughterhouses and other authorized facilities, recording data directly on electronic devices.
Challenges in this data collection process include ensuring openness from slaughter facilities, validating and verifying data accuracy, and handling fluctuations in the number of slaughters during certain periods, such as religious holidays. The results from this data collection aim to support the development of the livestock sector and maintain meat availability for the residents of Metro Municipality.
